Up for sale is a very scarce 10 inch, 78 rpm record. It looks more like a vinyl than a shellac record to me.

According to a 2009 blog posted by "wired for sound", Billy Briggs (1919 - 1984) was the son of a lawyer in Fort Worth, Texas. Early in his career, he became a steel guitarist. He is said to have been one of the first steel guitarists who also did vocals and one of the first who performed standing, rather than sitting. In the late 1930s, he moved to Amarillo where he joined the Sons of the West. In 1946, he formed his own group, known as the X. I. T. Boys. He took the initials from the "X. I. T. Ranch", which had been established in the 19th Century in the Texas panhandle. Originally, the X. I. T. Boys were a larger group and included a tenor saxophone, a fiddle, and a piano. But later (and by the time this record was released) the group was purely a string band. Briggs would go on, later in the 1950s, to record novelty records such as "Chew Tobacco Rag" and the "Sissy Song".
There is a pretty complete Billy Briggs discography on a blog of "PragueFranks" posted in 2014. This lists a date for both sides of circa 1950. This is the only record that Billy Briggs released on the very obscure Folke Record label.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Briggs was apparently known for his sexist lyrics. On the "A" side of the record I am selling, there is a lyric (repeated three times) stating "I'd love to slap your dirty little face." Some may find this lyric objectionable.
