Billy Thorpe-East Of Eden's Gate 1982 US promo LP. This rarity was Billy's fourth American LP and is the only album of his never to have an Australian release, neither is it available on CD. The title track only, was included on his 1987 half new release, Children Of The Sun Revisited, which combined the concept side of the Children Of The Sun album with some new recordings continuing the story plus the song East Of Eden's Gate. The other 8 songs are not available anywhere else. The band on this album included Frankie Banali (drums-Blackthorne, Hear'n Aid, Quiet Riot, W.A.S.P., Yngwie J. Malmsteen's Rising Force), Earl Slick (guitar-Dirty White Boy, The Earl Slick Band, Little Caesar, New York Dolls, Phantom, Rocker & Slick, Silver Condor, David Bowie , John Lennon, Ian Hunter, David Coverdale), Pat Regan (keyboards/synth-Quiet Riot, Weird Al Yankovic, Kiss, Doro, Blackmore's Night, Harlow) and William Cuomo
(American producer, arranger, keyboardist and synthesizer player. He also worked as Co-writer for Steve Perry and is with Beeb Birtles the founder of label Sonic Sorbet Records and it's co-owner.)
 

Lable:Pasha/CBS Cat# FZ 38179. Record is visually Ex+. Cover is Ex- with some very minor edge, corner and general wear. There is just a hint of ring wear appearing on the bottom of the front and top of the back sleeve. The inner sleeve is VG+ with minor creasing on two diagonally opposite corners and partial seam splits on the three sealed edges. The minor cover wear is mostly from storage and I doubt anyone will be disappointed with this excellent copy of one of Billy's  There is a gold CBS promo stamp on the rear top RH cnr. (see scans)

William Richard "Billy" Thorpe, AM (29 March 1946 – 28 February 2007) was a renowned English-born Australian pop / rock singer-songwriter and musician. As lead singer of his band Billy Thorpe & the Aztecs, he had success in the 1960s with "Blue Day", "Poison Ivy", "Over the Rainbow", "Sick and Tired", and "Mashed Potato"; and in the 1970s with "Most People I Know Think That I'm Crazy". Featuring in concerts at Sunbury Pop Festivals and Myer Music Bowl in the early 1970s, the Aztecs also developed the pub rock scene and were one of the loudest groups in Australia.

Thorpe also performed as a solo artist; he relocated to the United States from 1976 to 1996 where he released the space opera Children of the Sun, which peaked in the top 40 of the Billboard Pop Album chart in 1979. He worked with ex-Aztec Tony Barber to form a soft toy company in 1987 and co-wrote stories for The Puggle Tales and Tales from the Lost Forests. Thorpe also worked as a producer and composed music scores for TV series including War of the Worlds, Star Trek: The Next Generation, Columbo, Eight Is Enough and Hard Time on Planet Earth.

Thorpe returned to Australia in 1996 and continued as a performer and producer, additionally he authored two autobiographies, Sex and Thugs and Rock 'n' Roll (1996) and Most People I Know (Think That I'm Crazy) (1998). According to Australian rock music historian Ian McFarlane, "Thorpie evolved from child star, beat pop sensation and cuddly pop crooner to finally emerge as the country's wildest and heaviest blues rocker [...] Thorpie was the unassailable monarch of Australian rock music". Thorpe was inducted into the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) Hall of Fame in 1991. He died of a myocardial infarction in February 2007 and was posthumously appointed a Member of the Order of Australia in June for his contribution to music as a musician, songwriter and producer.

The LP integrates and experiments with the most modern technical and sound approaches in a series of ten melodic and thematic Thorpe originals--songs which cover a variety of themes such as romantic loneliness, the endless mythic night, the validity of dreams, and the results of modern warfare. Billy says: "What I aimed for with this record was to combine the best of both worlds. I like to play hard-driving rock but when I'm in the studio I enjoy using it as a technological playground. This way I can be freer with my music and not be confined by what radio wants to play. One of the things that made this records so much fun to record was the interplay between all the individuals in the studio--there was a great musical love affair between everyone there." "Songs like 'East of Eden's gate, 'Dogs of war' and 'Edge of madness' were very much inspired by a world view. In America there's tremendous news coverage of world events and catastrophes. I'm not a doomsday prophet but I'm just considering the times we live in. I think everybody has these feelings. People would be insensitive not to have them. No matter how 'down' the theme of these songs may be on the surface, an element of hope is always present. You gotta keep the faith."

M, mint condition, unplayed, with no marks on playing surface and labels as new.
M-, mint minus, either unplayed, with minimum scuffs caused by paper sleeve, or played once or twice only and still as new.
EX, excellent condition, record played carefully, very clean surface, minimum scuffing. 
VG, very good condition, scuffing or signs of groove wear but no bad scratches. Only minor pops or crackles.
G, good condition, well played with plenty of scuffs, light scratches and groove wear.Noise evident but no jumps.
F, fair condition, playable but heavily scuffed or scratched, with a lot of surface noise. Maybe minor jumps from scratches.

Ex, Excellent – Very little ware – no marks or worn corners
VG, Very Good  – some minor wear and some minor marks visible 
G, Good – worn cover, may have creased corners, heavier marks, small tears but still complete
