After such an enthusiastic reception from the bird-loving public for “Bird Songs of Dooryard, Field and Forest – Vol. 1", it was a foregone conclusion that a second recording from the Stillwell collection would be forthcoming. After months of preparation, we are proud to present this recording to you. It represents a great amount of work on the part of Jerry and Norma Stillwell, who spent four months of 1953 traveling over the eastern United States recording their beloved birds, and three months at home editing and re-editing the miles and miles of tape. Many of the songs you will hear on this recording were obtained during this trip. Volume 2 presents 140 different songs and calls from 58 species of widely known North American birds. You may notice that eleven species are repeated recordings from those in Volume 1, and in most cases, different song patterns are given for these eleven species As in Volume 1, this Stillwell collection will be especially welcomed, not only for the faithful and beautiful reproductions of wild bird songs, but also for the generous examples showing the versatility of many birds.

I grade my records conservatively, by visual inspection due to high volume.
SS = still sealed
NM = near mint or unplayed condition. Cover is crsip and new looking with no ring wear.
EX = only slight signs of wear; very clean, only light surface marks which will not distract significantly from the sound. Cover has only slight wear, and is still in nice collectible condition.
VG+ = played often with moderate surface wear and some moderate noise - still plays well. Cover may have gentle overall wear or some ring wear.
VG = overall wear, but no skips of serious defects, more noisy sound during quiet passages. Cover is well worn, usually with considerable ring wear.
VG- = heavy wear on record and cover. Guarantee does not apply to vg- or worse condition records.
G or G+ = Poor or Rough condition. No guarantee on these records. Collectors only!
