Description
On offer here is a mega rare original album by Black Sabbath entitled Paranoid released in 1970 U.K..on the extremely collectible large vertigo swirl label 6360011 pressing.I would grade this as EX/EX. I am of the opinion this album is becoming impossible to track down especially in any decent shape .The music is brilliant progressive rock.The matrix numbers are 1Y1 420 121 and 2Y1 420 114 I am not an expert on matrices but this looks as if it is the earliest ever .Like most Vertigo swirl albums,this record will continue to rise in value for the foreseeable future so would be an excellent investment.Just have a look at the photographs.It comes with the original sleeve.It is the very first mega rare pressing with the Big Bear Credit and no gap between Hand of Doom and Rat Salad.For more detail,please see below.
Labels
These are brilliantly crisp and bright with no writing or marks on them and I could not see any spindle wear.The record looks as if it has not been played many times.
Vinyl
This is a nice example.Even under the strongest light I could not see any scuffs or scratches only a few wispy lines caused by the removal of the record from the sleeve This is only visible under strong light and I am being very picky in mentioning this.It does not affect play..There are no repeating grooves.The only thing I heard in the middle of side 1 track 1 was a slight click which was audible when played loud.An expert has told me that this was on the original master tape for some reason and most copies have this.Even on the quietest tracks there was hardly any background noise .These Vertigo albums like Harvest often played with audible background crackle and hiss even when purchased new from a record shop but this album is a welcome exception.Another point which I must mention is that there is no gap between the tracks Hand of Doom and Rat Salad which is only present on these original pressings.A large swirl pressing is rare in itself,most were small swirl but only the first few have the missing separation.The album has been cleaned with a professional cleaning machine worth £1000s but in reality I did not need to pay the fee for this.I would grade the vinyl EX on both sides.I have played it through on a Linn Sondek player with Goldring cartridge.
Sleeve
This is the original unlaminated sleeve(later laminated) which is fragile and is prone to excessive wear.I have seen many sleeves which are badly worn even torn and usually the writing on the spine is missing or illegible.On this sleeve there is slight wear on the top bottom and front edges as can be seen from the photographs There is a little wear wear on the spine but all the writing on the spine is clearly legible with no missing letters.There is no writing or names on the sleeve .Overall this sleeve is EX and I think it would be hard to get a better one.The item is nearly 50 years old after all.This album has been reissued many times with a small swirl label and many later labels but as mentioned briefly above,this album is mega rare for the following reason.The first hundred or so of these sleeves were issued with the following credit on the inside of the gatefold.Management/Jim Simpson Big Bear Birmingham.Almost on the day of release Jim Simpson the manager was unceremoniously removed as manager and this credit was missing afterwards on all later copies.At the same time the missing separation of tracks on the vinyl was corrected.This is why people pay a lot for this album and it has a high guide price in Record Collector often selling in excess of this amount.
Overall ,I do not think this album will disappoint any winning bidder and to give everyone a chance,I have deliberately set a low start price for the auction.It goes without saying that if anyone is disappointed,I offer a compromise or a full refund..Please contact me directly if there is a problem. If you are secretly happy, please do not contact me simply to negotiate a lower price than the amount bid.This defeats the purpose of ebay.

I offer free postage to U.K.buyers and will ship world wide.£10 for Europe,£15 for rest of world.I have in the past excluded certain countries such as Russia and the Ukraine.In Russia sadly parcels are held up at customs ,go missing or the item can take 10 to 12 weeks to be delivered.Buyers would need to be patient and accept the purchase at their own risk but I will send all items tracked and can email a copy of the tracking receipt.I know some sellers have stopped sending to certain countries.
