Blues 78 - TOMMY MCCLENNAN “Whiskey Head Woman” Bluebird 8373. Unsold store stock copy.
From a find in central Texas this past summer. Family used to own the local Ben Franklin store and was an RCA dealer. (They also had the rare RCA 78 demonstration phono with the nipper logo on the speaker grill! Didn’t end up with that!)
Obtained a number of duplicate copies of a few titles but none as significant as this one! Sad thing is there was another copy of this but was cracked! This copy has beautiful shine with virtually no marks, but does have a microscopic place that makes about 4 moderate pops during the opening verse- not too bad. Surface looks virtually new. Beautiful labels. Background noise minimal with both music and vocals clear as a bell. Both sides are great. Will entertain offers but is definitely worth more than I’m asking. Haven’t listed any records for quite a while, but I have sold many, many nice 78s through the years with no complaints. I pack professionally: in a good sleeve and placed between 6 cardboard flats, then bubble wrap, then in a new 6x6x12” box with peanuts. I typically ship by Media Mail and insured. Postage charges include insurance by Shipcover. It will get there safely unless the postman drives over the box! If you want it faster it will cost more. Check my feedback and buy with confidence.
