Ultra rare holy grail by the legendary creator of children's electronic psych, featuring top notch dope funky electronic background music and sound effects produced on Haack's homemade early synthesizers, along with snippets of King speeches and nonprofessional children's voices narrating King's life story and accomplishments. This is the scarce flexidisc issue which probably originally came inside one of educational publishing company Scholastic's children's magazines (it was also separately released as a record bundled with Ira Peck's book The Life And Words Of Martin Luther King, Jr.). Here Haack and collaborator Esther Nelson touch on King's coming under the influence of Ghandi and Indian philosophies of nonviolence early in life, his major accomplishments, important events in the civil rights movement, his assassination and legacy, etc. In the 70s, Haack did a few of these projects for Scholastic which mostly ended up in school libraries and are now all but impossible to find. Fans of obscure early electronic pop, warped children's psychedelia, and unusual spoken word will find much to love. Highly recommended!

Haack was a genius of electronic music and education through sound who invented many early synthesizers, released dozens of innovative electronic children's records on his Dimension 5 label starting in the early 1960s as well as non-children's psychedelic rock albums, publicly promoted electronic music on television, and composed commercially. He was also known for his interest in the occult and psychedelic drugs, the influences of both of which frequently made their way into his strange and wonderful recordings. He studied under modern composer Vincent Persichetti and became an influential forefather to current electronic and techno musicians like Luke Vibert, Add N to X, Mouse on Mars, Money Mark, Stereolab, Aphex Twin, Autechre, Mu-Ziq, and Matmos.
