Description
This is a fine copy of a private press archival live LP by legendary Minneapolis psych group the C. A. Quintet, released in 1984. Known to collectors for their 1969 LP Trip Thru Hell, the group started out as a soul-based rock group (one of their early singles was a cover of "Mickey's Monkey") before turning on and tuning in, albeit to a pretty unique channel. The recordings on this LP were drawn from the group's final performance at a high school formal dance in rural Minnesota -- a pretty surreal way to go out. The tracks include extended jams on Creedence Clearwater Revival's "Born on the Bayou" and Spirit's "Fresh Garbage" along with the group original, "Country Boy." Given the recording technology used, the sound quality is surprisingly good. These tracks reappeared on a 2017 German pressing along with some other songs from that performance, but this rare LP represents their first official issue in any format. The jacket has some mostly light creasing and a little light ring wear on the front cover -- EX(+). The disc is clean with a little light scuffing, and plays with minimal surface noise -- a strong M-.
I’m in the process of selling off a large personal collection amassed over two decades. All discs have been stored in plastic lined inner sleeves separate from their jackets. The jackets have been stored in plastic sleeves. I have play graded (spot checked) discs except where otherwise noted.
