For your consideration is this 1967 release by Minneapolis legends The C.A. Quintet: Blow to My Soul/She’s Got to Be True. This was the second (and last) of their releases on the Falcon label before they entered their psychedelic phase.
Grading the labels: The labels don’t make the grade as NM, but fall in the VG++/VG+ area. Please note particularly the two small breaks at the four o’clock and five o’clock positions on the outer perimeter on the A-side. No issues on the B-side.
Grading the vinyl: Please look at the close-up of the lead-in in one of the photos. There’s also a shot from further out. Unfortunately, these are NOT scuffs, but scratches that cause three audible clicks within the first few seconds of Blow to My Soul. If the eBay gods have cooperated, the video that I’ve uploaded will let you hear it play all the way through. You can also see that it plays flat.
Here’s what Goldmine has to say about that: “If there is any obtrusive clicks or pops, which cause the song to be less than enjoyable, it may not even be VG+!“ And then, in their definition of VG: “More and more surface scuffs and scratches, and audible sound defects WILL be heard.”
The question becomes, do the pops make it less than enjoyable? Going strictly by the book, I’m seeing it as a VG vinyl with a VG+ label.
