Description

This is a fine original U.K. pressing copy of a 1980 12" by British post-punk/industrial group Cabaret Voltaire. Though assigned a singles catalog number by the group's label (Rough Trade), the record clocks in at over 40 minutes, effectively making it their third LP.  Its two tracks, labeled "eastern" and "western," are characterized by the sort of hypnotic repetitiveness one would expect of mantras.  The "eastern" side is more drone-like, featuring a recording from a Jerusalem market (per the credits on the back cover); in this respect, it recalls the work of German group Agitation Free.  The "western" side is relentlessly rhythmic, featuring the heavily distorted keyboard and spoken/chanted vocals characteristic of the group's early recordings.  (For those into the minutiae: first pressings, per Discogs, are distinguished by having “33 1/3 rpm” printed on the disc labels (later pressings have "33rpm").  This copy's labels have the former.)  The jacket has some light wear along the bottom seam on the front cover and on the bottom seam itself, light ring wear, and a little light creasing -- EX(+). The disc has a couple of small dings on side 2 that have no appreciable effect on play, and is otherwise clean with a little light fingerprinting and scuffing, and plays all but M- with a little light surface noise (EX+).

I’m in the process of selling off a large personal collection amassed over two decades. All discs have been stored in plastic lined inner sleeves separate from their jackets. The jackets have been stored in plastic sleeves. I have play graded (spot checked) discs except where otherwise noted.

If you'd like to order multiple items, I'll happily combine them so that you won't have to pay multiple shipping charges.
