This is a copy of the classic 1969 Captain Beeheart and His Magic Band double album Trout Mask Replica. 28 tracks produced by Frank Zappa.

I think that this is a second US pressing dating from January 1970, which comes in the original 1969 gatefold sleeve, which shows the Straight Records logo on the front cover in white. Catalogue number on the cover is STS 1053, but the catalogue number on the vinyl is 2MS 2027. The labels are blue and have Bizarre and the Reprise logo on them. On the sleeve track 6 on Side 1 is listed as Moonlight on Vermont, but on the label it says Moonlight In Vermont.

Spine reads "STS 1053 Trout Mask Replica Captain Beefheart Straight". Plain white inner sleeves and no further inserts.

It is all in Excellent conditon - the vinyls are spotless!

Matrix numbers are Side 1 - 2MS 2027 31041-2, Side 2 - 2-STS-1053-2, 31042, Side 3 - 2-STS-1053-3 2MS 2027 31043, Side 4 - 2-STS-1053-4, 2MS 2027 31044.

Record Grading System

MINT The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised, as Sealed or Unplayed will be mint.

EXCELLENT The record shows some signs of having been played, possibly with light surface marks but there will be very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

POOR The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.
