This is a rare  original "broken mirror" die-cut cover of the Captain Beefheart's second - and last - album for Buddah records. This album contains sessions recorded in August 1965, a few months before their legendary "Safe as Milk" sessions, and was produced by Bob Krasnow (later of blue Thumb label, which released Captain Beefheart’s next album) as were the other two early Cap Beefhart's albums (Safe as Milk and Strictly Confidential). Ostensibly, Cap Beefheart was brutally unhappy with Bob Krasnow's unauthorized "psychedelic" mix, but, in our view, the mix aged very nicely, indeed.  Track listing: Tarotplane - Kandy Korn - 25th Century Quaker - Mirror Man.

(a)          WE GRADE THE VINYL  AS  WEAK NEAR MINT. Some VERY LIGHT AND SUPERFICIAL abrasions – mostly sleeve scuffs -  are (barely) visible, but are probably inaudible,  and do not affect visual integrity or beauty of the vinyl. The original luster is very much intact, and the vinyl shines and sparkles almost like new.

(b)          The record comes in the original stock inner sleeve.

(c)           The record is pressed on a RELATIVELY  thick, inflexible vinyl. This is NOT a thin, flimsy ('dynaflex' type),  vinyl, but not the thickest, most rigid vinyl, either.

(d)          Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!

(e)           Mono copies of this album are NOT known to exist.

COVER (THIS IS THE ORIGINAL “BROKEN GLASS”, DIE-CUT COVER)

THE COVER IS NICE --- ABOUT EXCELLENT OR VERY GOOD++ (VG++).

The following flaws or imperfections are noted on the cover:

-        Cover has a small cutout hole in one of the corners

-        Cover has some light ring wear (nothing significant); On the scale from 1 to 10 (1 being the least, and  10 being the most severe), we assess the severity of ring wear as 2

-        Minor shelf wear noted on the seams (nothing significant)

-        Cover has a few tiny wrinkles along the seams (nothing significant)

NO OTHER IMPERFECTIONS ON THE COVER:

-        No split seams

-        No cut-out corners

-        No saw-marks or indents

-        No dirt/dust rubbing stains (friction marks caused by rubbing against other covers)

-        No yellowing from aging

-        No writing

-        No stamps

-        No tearing: no chips, dents or nicks on the seams

-        No peel-off marks

-        No stains

-        No mold or mildew spots

-        No stickers or labels

-        No water damage

-        No razor marks, scratches, pressure marks, lines, streaks, or  cuts.

-        No warping

-        No wax, glue, paint or liquid drops on the cover

-        No bar codes

-        No RIAA stamps or stickers.
