Description
CARL PERKINS Whole Lotta Carl ORIGINAL UK 1966 Realm MONO Rock and Roll Sun
Carl Perkins, Whole Lotta Carl.
Scarce original 1966 UK pressed CBS Realm stereo LP, RM 52305.
First pressing which features textured green paper labels with black print and boxed CBS logo at centre with oval Realm Series label at 12 o'clock.
Earliest A1/B1 matrix suffixes.
Vinyl visually a strictly graded VG plus. Some spider trail marks are visible around the centre spindle areas, but these are not excessive, and the labels are clean and unmarked. The playing surfaces are still bright and glossy. Close inspection reveals a few light hairline marks and very gentle scuffs, but there are no deep marks which can be felt to the touch, and the surfaces still have many clean and unblemished areas.
Playback is still very solid. Some light crackle is audible at run-ins and band separators, but this is never noticeable during the actual tracks which all play cleanly and without distortion or groove wear. I heard just a couple of isolated soft ticks on the second side during playback of the entire LP.
Sleeve a solid VG with no glaring faults. Note that predominantly black laminated sleeves never photograph well, with every minor imperfection being over-exaggerated. The sleeve looks VERY much better in the flesh. Front laminate has just a touch of ringwear, some minor pinch line creases leading in from edge areas and minor air pocketing of laminate near spine. Predominantly white rear still retains good colour with no staining and just a tad of natural age and handling toning. Penned name to top left corner of rear, written on visible backflap. Backflaps are intact and undamaged. Tips slightly rubbed, a little more so to bottom left, with a very small split and feathering of the tip. Entry side not feathered and just gently dinked.
All in all, a nice example of one of Carl Perkin's scarcer UK albums.
