CHRIS YOULDEN  Nowhere Road  -  original 1973 Deram LP with insert, ex-Savoy Brown lead singer

Deram SML 1099, 1973 UK issue, matrix numbers XZAL-11899.P-1W, XZAL11900.P-1W.

After leaving Savoy Brown Chris Youlden made two albums for Deram, of which this is the first. Eleven tracks, all original compositions; produced by Barry Murray. Line-up includes Chris Spedding, Danny Kirwan and Ray Fenwick on guitars.

Track listing:

Side 1. Nowhere Road – One October day – Chink of sanity – Crying in the road – Mamma don’t you talk so loud.

Side 2. Standing on the corner – In the wood – Wake up neighbour – Street sounds – Time will tell – Pick up my dogs.

Cover  EX--  An overall good-looking sleeve, nice firm appearance, with the following points: mild wear to the top and open edges, a bit more to the bottom edge; some pinch creases across spine, top corner rubbed, inch or so of wear to bottom, print all intact; front panel has three tiny marks top right, both panels have general signs of storage wear, particularly near the bottom edge.

Original Decca poly-lined inner sleeve in substantially very good condition: slight signs of ageing, some creasing, artist and title written in one corner, slight scuff in opposite corner.

Insert in generally excellent condition: a couple of slight creases, a little fading, two or three faint foxing spots.

Vinyl  EX/EX-  Fresh, clean appearance to vinyl, one or two small, faint surface marks. Labels are generally excellent, both have mild, faint spindle marks, side 2 has a slight manufacturing blemish around ‘Made in England’. A lovely Decca pressing with a clear, uncluttered production. Play performance excellent, sound generally so, just the occasional faint snick from dust etc, five or six light clicks noted, plus two groups of four clicks, one at the end of side 2, track 4, the second shortly after in the track break.
