CHUCK WAYNE Jazz Guitarist LP RECORD Autographed 1956

Chuck Wayne: The Jazz Guitarist. Released by Savoy (MG 12077). This fantastic album has some very conflicting information attached to it. One source claims it was released in 1956, another state 1957 while yet another states that this is "Wayne's 1946 debut solo album." At least 8 of the songs were originally recorded under the Chuck Wayne Quintet moniker in 1953 with this line up:

Brew Moore or Zoot Sims (ts) Harvey Leonard (p) Chuck Wayne (g) George Duvivier (b) Ed Shaughnessy (d)

Either way, this has the burgundy Savoy label. Thick rigid vinyl. Vinyl is clean, plays well, bright and is in VG shape, Minor scuffs but it plays well through them with some occasional light surface noise here and there. Like many of you already know, Savoy was a bit shady on their quality hence the vinyl is not the best. that said it has some imperfections in the wax, one even look like a dent and the record appears to be "out of round" or have a wider side so the needle wobbles some horizontally. Yet it still plays well. That is truly the best description I can give. The jacket is good, colors bright, spine wear top 2" crack but not split, corner wear. Autograph on back states, "TO PASTOR JOHN SINCERELY, CHUCK WAYNE" in blue pen. Autograph is certainly old but I have no way of authenticating.
