Here is a real rarity! It's the only known copy of Musical Comedy star Clara Evelyn's 1912 Original Cast Recording of 'Be My Comrade True' from the Leo Fall operetta 'Princess Caprice', produced at London's Shaftesbury Theatre. It is an original single-sided shellac 1912 HMV Test Pressing, stamped "Aug 3 1912" and "Aug 7 1912" and it is autographed "To Derek from Clara Evelyn". This title was never issued and has never been subsequently reissued on LP or CD - in other words it's unique! A great addition to any theatre music collection! Born in 1882, Clara Evelyn was understudy to Lily Elsie in the original Production of 'The Dollar Princess' and took over Lily Elsie's role in the original London production of 'The Merry Widow' in 1908. She continued star in Musical Comedies and operettas both is the UK and USA through the 1910s and 1920s, and even made an LP in 1973, aged 91! CONDITION: V+
