Description

Biography

Named after Clayton Square in their home town of Liverpool, England, the Clayton Squares were a driving R&B band formed too late to cash in on the Mersey boom. The founding line-up comprised Mike Evans (tenor saxophone/leader), Denny Alexander (vocals/rhythm guitar), Pete Dunn (lead guitar/organ), Les Smith (alto saxophone), Geoff Jones (bass), and Bobby Scott (drums). They recorded two excellent singles for , "Come And Get It" and "There She Is", but despite consistent touring and numerous international television appearances, the group was unable to achieve commercial success. The Clayton Squares disbanded in 1966 .....MANY CONSIDER "THERE SHE IS"  AS ONE OF THE RAREST MERSEYBEAT RECORDS OF ALL TIME HAS SOLD FOR OVER £150 PLUS IT IS VERY RARE TO SEE THIS SLAB OF WAX ANYWHERE .JUST LOOK THE CONDITION IS A PER THE SCAN I WOULD GRADE VG PLUS HAS LIGHT SURFACE MARKS ON THE A AND B SIDES ......I SAW THEM PLAY MANY TIMES AT THE ORIGINAL CAVERN AND THEY WERE A very hard act to follow..soundwise I prefered the Claytons to the Beatles as a stage act at that time......PLEASE NO BIDS WITH LESS THAN 98% FEEDBACK ( I HAVE OWNED THIS RECORD SINCE 1966)..........Decca F 12456 THERE SHE IS  B/W  IMAGINATION..THANKS FOR LOOKING * PLEASE SEE OUR OTHER AUCTIONS.........TAKE A PEEP AT MY SHOP SOME BARGAINS HERE.............
