In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Original 1970 first pressing with minty clean vinyl on the collected 360 Sound Columbia label. It's Moby Grape's vastly underestimated fourth album full of entertaining self compositions.

MOBY GRAPE's fourth album routinely gets slammed by critics, which tells us most of them simply haven’t heard it. Truly Fine Citizen is a rewarding album filled with plenty of memorable West Coast grooves. The album really grows well with repeat plays.
With Skip Spence having previously checked himself into a psychiatric facility (Bellevue Hospital), the band struggled on. On the heels of a disastrous European tour bassist Bob Mosley suddenly deciding to join the Marines (his military career lasted less than a year when he was discharged after getting into a fight with an officer). While Peter Lewis, Jerry Miller and Don Stevenson were apparently ready to throw in the towel, their contract called for another album for Columbia, so the trio bravely soldiered on with 1969’s “Truly Fine Citizen”. The band convened in Nashville with famed Columbia producer Bob Johnston (Bob Dylan, Simon & Garfunkel, The Byrds) and cut this album in just three days.
On paper, Truly Fine Citizen appears to have everything going against it. For starters, the album certainly sounds like a contract obligation in places, meaning there are spots where it's very obvious that the band recorded this in three days. To add pluses to the album, the album excells in Bob Johnston's period production excess such as the use of a heavy amount of reverb and murky vocals that actually work. Anyone who has ever listened to The Byrds' 1969 album Dr. Byrds & Mr. Hyde will hear the same sound. Peter Lewis didn't really want to do the album and had to be coaxed into it by Miller and Stevenson. Through all that though, Moby Grape delivered in spades here.
While Truly Fine Citizen won't make anyone forget the Grape's first two albums, 1967's Moby Grape and 1968's Wow, there is plenty of great songwriting and musicianship here. The album's real strength is its "human" element, meaning this is great music for the soul. Whereas earlier Moby Grape albums tended to focus more on straight ahead rock, here the band got into a more reflective space memorable melodies soaked album. Put this one on while staring out a window at the rain and it'll all make sense. The album's highlights are "Changes, Circles Spinning", "Truly Fine Citizen", "Beautiful Is Beautiful", "Right Before My Eyes", and "Now I Know High" with honorable mention going to "Tongue Tied" and "Looper" (a song which dates back to Moby Grape's very beginning).
This should definitely be the last of the Grape's five Columbia albums to explore, but there is a plethora of reward here for those willing to step off the hard rock avenue and onto the Marin County countryside. check...
