RARE... 1970 ORIGINAL BRITISH first pressing...contains the original printed Columbia inner sleeve with UK album covers on the label...

Although history records the last years before Alex Harvey formed his Sensational Alex Havey group with the mighty Tear Gas, he was in fact already blueprinting much of what they would soon be accomplishing via the academically named, but blues-wailing nevertheless Rock Workshop. Harvey appears on four of the eight songs on this album, and the presence of a couple of subsequently familiar songs and a vocal workout to rival anything he EVER recorded establish the tracks among his finest performances -- including a savage rearrangement of "Wade in the Water" and his own (with fellow Workshop-per Ray Russell) "Hole in Her Stocking" are both bruising R&B stampers, punctured by howling backing arrangements and heavy guitar riffing that could have escaped from "Walk Don't Run." 

Different, of course, but also in the vein of Pete Brown's Battered Ornaments --Alex Harvey himself is in breathtaking vocal form, utterly undistinguishable from the showman who brought listeners "Vambo," and the  jams on Rock Workshop, while certainly a blistering blur of hot and sweaty R&B-boogie, sadly went unnoticed as a white English fusion band honking and stomping around the room. Indeed, there are pleanty of moments when the sound effects that open and link the songs are even more interesting than the songs themselves. The Rock Workshop remains a key passage in Alex Harvey's career.

The cover fragile and delicate UK is very clean and crisp, it's 40 years old yet top shape, "EX" (excellent) to M- with no bends, no writing, no split seams...nice 

The vinyl all shiny, both sides, clean labels, M- clear and plays CLEAN
