TRANSATLANTIC TRA 237 - UK

On sale an original UK issue of the debut LP by the English group CMU, mixing Progressive and Jazz, released by the TRANSATLANTIC label in 1971.

COVER - Laminated gatefold cover in EX condition with light age wear and a few creases only. This is one of those covers made with a single cardboard sheet and with the record in a PVC bag taped in the inner. The PVC bag had a foam stripe on the open side to preserve the record from the dust, but it tended to stick to the record causing bad damages to the vinyl.
In this cover the PVC is still taped to the cover but the tape has yellowed and is partly detached.
LP credits on the left side fully legible.

INNER - PVC inner bag as described.

VINYL - Clean with some scuffs, but at the beginning of side 1 there is a mark caused by the foam stripe (as described above, see the second picture from the bottom), which causes a strong hiss for the first 50 seconds. The rest plays with some surface noise and the odd click here and there. Graded VG to VG+.
Record playgraded using a Shure V15-Type III stylus at 1.5gr.

LABELS - No writings or tears, only the stain of a small sticker on side 2 label. Original Transatlantic label with red rim on side 1.

RECORD COLLECTOR MAGAZINE'S GRADING SYSTEM

MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.

EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packag­ing might have slight wear and/or creasing. 

VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable sur­face marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable. 

GOOD:The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc. 

FAIR:The record is still just playable but has not been cared for prop­erly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

POOR:The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing. 

Please notice that I don't use Mint but NEAR MINT (which is very close but refers to a secondhand used record) except for Sealed/Brand New/Unplayed records, and I don't sell Poor or unplayable records. I try to be as honest as possible when grading records, but a mistake can be made from time to time.

COPERTINA - La copertina laminata apribile è in condizioni EX, con leggera usura e qualche piega. La copertina è una di quelle realizzate con un unico foglio di cartoncino piegato in due e il disco contenuto in una busta di plastica attaccata con una striscia di nastro adesivo. Questa busta ha sul lato di apertura una guarnizione in gommapiuma che doveva proteggere il disco dalla polvere, ma che con il tempo tendeva ad attaccarsi al vinile provocando danni.
Questa copia ha la copertina con la busta di plastica ancora attaccata, ma il nastro adesivo si è seccato e ingiallito ed è rimasto fissato solo al centro.
I dati del disco sul lato sinistro sono completamente leggibili.

BUSTA INTERNA - Busta in plastica rigida trasparente come descritto sopra.

VINILE - Pulito con pochi segni superficiali, ma l'inizio del lato 1 è rovinato dal contatto con la gommapiuma della busta in plastica (vedere la penultima foto in basso), e questo provoca forte fruscio per i primi 50 secondi. Il resto suona con moderato rumore di fondo e qualche clic di tanto in tanto. Valutato complessivamente tra VG e VG+.
Disco ascoltato con una testina Shure V15-Type III del peso di 1.5gr.

ETICHETTE - Senza scritte né strappi, solo la macchia di un piccolo adesivo sul lato 2. Etichette originali Transatlantic con bordo rosso sul lato 1.
