COLUMBIA SAX 2320 UK Blue & Silver MARIA CALLAS Mad Scenes
This is one of a number of vinyl records from the 1950’s & 60’s listed this week which we no longer listen to. Little played, the records are still in very good condition, the covers sometimes less so.
Gradings are based on the “Record Collector Magazine's Guide” set out in the eBay Guides together with notes about condition added. Extracts from the Gramophone Magazine review written at the time of the record’s release are included, with the permission of the publishers, where these are available.
RECORD GRADING
EXCELLENT
Both surfaces are clean, retain their shine and play excellently. This is an extremely well preserved copy of this record which plays excellently with very little surface noise at all on either side. There are a couple of sleeve rubbings, some finger marks and a longish, non-sounding, very light hairline on side 1. There are no spindle marks on either label.
COVER GRADING
GOOD
The cover is structurally sound, without splits and both surfaces have few marks. The unlaminated back is noticeably age discoloured and a little soiled.
The edges, however, do seriously let this cover down. They are very ‘scuffed’ exposing the white of the base card along about half of the three edges.
This cover has done its job well preserving the record in really excellent condition, and it will continue to do so. Both faces retain all the original information intact. It’s just the edges. The photo well illustrates its condition.
The ‘Important’ inner sleeve, too, is age discoloured but is undamaged and only a little creased.
If you have an excellent cover then, with this record, you will have a ‘Gem’ of Maria Callas at her best.

Record In brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality Cover In perfect condition, as are extra items such as thelyric sheet, booklet or poster EXCELLENT Record Shows signs of having been played, but with very little lessening in sound quality Cover Slight wear and / or creasing to the cover or its contents VERY GOOD Record Obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch Cover Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects GOOD Record Played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, and there may be some distortion and mild scratches Cover Suffers from folding, scuffed edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.

- In the interest of all concerned this will be by Royal Mail International Signed-for OR Royal Mail Airsure service, dependant on the intended location, both of which provide proof of postage and confirmation of delivery. The packet will be sent with the appropriate level of insurance cover for its final auction price.
