Description
Columbia Mono LP, 33CX 1606, blue/gold label, 1N/1N matrix suffixes.
The scalloped-flipback fully laminated sleeve is in super shape, very clean and tidy, with a little edge browning, light ringwear and a few light spine edge creases, with a small crease to the bottom flipback, all relatively minor issues. Lovely glossy laminate, super colour and structure. The sleeve certainly grades EX.
The vinyl is clean, shiny and glossy, very well looked after, with no apparent spindle marks on either label. It plays flat, with no apparent warp. There is a little crackle at the start of each side which quickly dissipates to reveal very clear, strong Mono audio, absolutely vital to such intimate performances by Fournier and Moore. There are a few very small, light hairlines and tiny manufacturing spots which appear to have no effect on audio reproduction and, on side 2, across bands 5, 6 and 7 are a few more noticeable, but still light, lines which do cause band 7 to exhibit a few seconds of ‘hiss’ in the middle and some light repetitive crackle. There is also a small mark between bands 6 and 7, but this has no detrimental audible effect. As with all vinyl records, there is the occasional light dust click and, in the quieter passages, a little surface noise but, there overall, this is a splendid copy of a rare record, and the vinyl grade, to take into account visual appearance and playing quality, must grade EX.
This is, overall, a super copy of one of Columbia’s rarer UK releases, and I hope my description gives potential buyers confidence that I aim to please those buyers with quality records for their collections. If there are any questions, please do ask.
