Description

HERE'S a blues double-header, a single Romeo record, heavily packed with some of the best blues and jazz talent of the late '20s.  

On the "A" side, OZIE WARE, singing Percy Grainger's great song, "HE JUST DON'T APPEAL TO ME." She's accompanied by a contingent from DUKE ELLINGTON'S COTTON CLUB ORCHESTRA: Cootie Williams (trumpet), Johnny Hodges (alto sax), Joe "Tricky Sam" Nanton (trombone), Barney Bigard (clarinet), Fred Guy (banjo), Wellman Braud (bass), Sonny Greer (drums) and of course, Duke at the piano.  

Facing off on the "B" side, COOT GRANT wails her own "STEVEDORE BLUES," and she's backed by some of FLETCHER HENDERSON'S best men:  Rex Stewart (trumpet), Charlie Green (trombone), Buster Bailey (clarinet) and Fletcher Henderson (piano).  

A more evenly matched pairing I can't imagine.  I had to flip a coin to decide who to list first.  

This power-packed 1928 Romeo 1042 is in very nice E- condition - some wear, a few scratches and rubs, a highly serviceable copy!
