As those who have followed his work alongside Raffaele Arcella as CH.OP will attest, Cosimo Mandorino aka Mr Cosmo is a master of left of centre, sun-soaked Mediterranean disco and boogie revivalism. The Italian producer and multi-instrumentalist continues in this vein on this fine four-tracker. Title track 'Mr Coconut' is a camp, tongue-in-cheek delight that sounds like the sort of colourful, synth-heavy and cowbell rich blend of synth-pop, jazz-funk and Italo-disco that was once all the range in clubs on the Adriatic coast, while 'Goodbye' is a jazzier and more squelchy slab of sax-sporting Balearic synth-funk. Mandorino showcases his love of arpeggio-driven Italo-disco on bubbly B-side throb-job 'Dub Nuts' (a radical transformation of the title track), before rounding off a fine EP with a drums, vox-and-delay DJ tool, 'Coccapella Version'.
