Description

For sale in overall very good condition, 1969 Captain Beefheart – Trout Mask Replica, white label promotional, LP, on Straight records, STS1053 with insert Lyric sheet an additional bonus item-Don Van Vliet art showing program from 1985 solo exhibition, New York..

All four sides of the record have been tested on a Pro-ject turntable with Sumiko moonbeam stylus and is Skip free across all four sides. Record grading guidelines would probably write this between good and very good. Typically this means that the records are playable with no defects, but a certain level of surface marks that do not affect play. There is very little surface, noise or clicks and pops across all four sides with the exception. of one area at the beginning of Hair Pie Bake 2 on side three as pictured. The blemish is audible, but the needle does play through it, and the actual track is so chaotic, you’d hardly even notice it :-). There are light surface marks/sleeve marks on all four sides that are also largely inaudible.

Record has the original Straight Record sleeves as pictured and small bit of ruffle and 1/16 of an inch chair as pictured.

Also included in this sale is a quality printed program, approximately 10” x 12” , from the Captain’s solo 1985 art gallery exhibition in Manhattan, New York at the Boone-Werner Art Gallery, 1985. The program shows five of the paintings that were on sale among the many works that were displayed. Vivid colors, great design, corners and edges, still clean, some aging with very light Mark on cover and other very mild blemishes.. Interior panels are near, mint and glossy.

The original album cover is in “good” condition . Record rash on front as pictured, back is in Slightly better shape Regarding record radish, but small Blemish in lower left corner and slight paper separation.. Spine has some wear and both sleeves have about 1 inch separation at the front top and bottom corners As pictured, very minor. ( personally, I would say this sale is about the white label promo, and the additional art pamphlet. You can always buy a better cover and swap out the records just as an idea And the cover itself is still in very agreeable condition.) The inside cover it’s also in good shape. There is one small area in the lower corner near the opening. (as pictured) where there is small blemish.

Records come in vintage, poly vinyl sleeves for lp protection.
