Description
For sale is an extremely rare Carl Sagan "A Glorious Dawn" Cosmos record produced by Third Man Records and Jack White. On several occasions Jack has been noted as saying that to date this is his favorite release from his Third Man Records. There were 150 of the Cosmos variant sold at Third Man Records upon release and this one is unique in that the label has been pressed off centered with some of the label having grooves pressed into it. Originally I thought there was a second label pressed on top of the first, but appears it was torn or wrinkled and overlapped (see pictures). The lighter spots in the record are actually small pieces of glow in the dark vinyl bits that were placed on top of the blank vinyl puck before being pressed into the vinyl record mold. This record glows just like you are looking up at the cosmos on a dark black night. The reverse side is etched with the same etching that was used on the Golden Record sent out into space on the Voyager, the committee to select content for the Gold Record was headed up by Carl Sagan of course! It is truly a unique and beautiful record if you've never seen it before. Because of the glow in the dark vinyl used to make the streaks, the black is actually a translucent color and shows wonderful swirls when held up the light. View all 12 pictures for a full understanding of just how unique this record truly is and how it will be a perfect addition to your collection! I've embedded a YouTube video of the song, I believe this is the exact video that Jack saw on YouTube and decided he needed to release this song on vinyl. ENJOY! Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. I do not ship outside the United States.
