This lovely LP – a fine collector’s copy – from Columbia Masterworks (ML 4518, US pressing, blue label, mono) features Vol. I in Robert Casadesus’ complete survey of Maurice Ravel’s music for solo piano, set down at Columbia 30th Street Studio, New York City, in December 1951.

Casadesus plays with consumate artistry, highly sculptured and luminous playing that lingers in the memory long after the music has stopped – truly outstanding and superbly recorded.

Incidentally, the striking cover art is credited to Sadowsky of Monogram. There are superb liner notes (uncredited) on the reverse side of the jacket, printed in English only.

CONDITION – PLEASE READ VERY CAREFULLY:

The gradations of condition I use are as follows: MINT, Near-Mint, Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor.

The condition of the jacket, still largely in the original shrinkwrap, is near-MINT. Other than some minuscule bumping at corners, the jacket appears virtually as new – overall, this rates as a truly superb collector's copy.

The condition of the LP itself is EXCELLENT. Although the surfaces are not absolutely silent, this is a fine copy and the playback is quite superb. Those requiring flawless or NM surfaces are kindly advised to look elsewhere. Overall, this rates as an excellent collector's copy.

This LP has been carefully cleaned using a VPI cleaning machine. All LPs are provided with a new Nagaoka (or Nagaoka-style) inner sleeve.
