There are two known label variations for SD 107. The one we are selling is the earlier one It uses a sans-serif type face, identifies only Spand, Ezell, and Hill on the label, and shows the 104 East Bellvue address. John Steiner and Hugh Davis's names in script HAVE BEEN replaced with the words "Fine Jazz Documents."
The original release was on Paramount 12886, in 1930. It featured a sAMPLER medley of brief contributions by six of Parmount’s top-selling blues artists. "Hometown Skiffle" is a blanket title. The Paramount label read in full: "Descriptive Novelty: Featuring Blind Lemon Jefferson, Blind Blake, Will Ezell, Charlie Spand, The Hokum Boys, Papa Charlie Jackson".

This item is part of an extensive collection and is offered for sale by the James Lyons Trust, Frank E. Bysfield Trustee. Jim was a serious record collector and spent years searching for them. He had an insatiable appetite for Traditional Jazz and could not stop buying. In his lifetime it is unknown as to how many Jim actually acquired, inventoried record collection is over 20,000 records. Plus there is sheet music, reels, cylinders, cassettes and CD’s. In addition to the records he has a collection of nearly 3,000 books and publications, IAJRC Journal, Storyville Magazines, various memorabilia, show bills, concert programs, photos, and other ephemeras. Over 600 books with copyrights dated from 1867 – 1959.
