- Buddy Holly (lead singer, guitar), Joe Mauldin (bass), Jerry Allison (drums), Niki Sullivan (guitar).

-Teenagers in 1957 were buying 45 and 78 R.P.M. singles for around .89 and most were not willing to put out the $1.49 retail price for an extended play record. Consequently, E.P.'s are now rare and highly sought after by collectors.

-This copy of The "Chirping" Crickets E.P. we are offering for your consideration is in beautiful collector's condition. The front jacket is pristine with bright, vivid colours, white borders, no hint of wear or record impression of any kind. There are no seam splits, the printing is perfect. The front of the jacket looks as good as the day it left the factory.

-The back of the jacket is graded at VG++ due to two minor flaws: At the top left hand corner someone has erased what may have been a price or name which appears to have been written in ink. Also, at the bottom left hand side there is a flaw which causes the 'U' in U.S.A. to be rendered nearly invisible. Otherwise, like the front jacket, the black print on white background is bright and in collector's condition. See scans.

-The vinyl is M- with only a few tiny paper scuffs which do not affect play.

-The labels are M- with no writing or sticker residue of any kind, there is a tiny separation of paper on side one at the inside edge of the spindle hole on the bottom left and top right hand sides, they are about 1/8" long each.  See scan.

-The matrix numbers are machine stamped S3870 2 and S3871 2 on sides one and two respectively. Further along on both sides is stamped the number 1.

-This a  "Compo Co. Ltd. Canada " Canadian pressing with a U.S.A. printed jacket which would have been sent to Canada from the U.S. and then coupled with the record in Canada.

-When this E.P. does show up at all, it is almost always worn out as it was a great party record and usually found well played with a jacket to match.

This is a great opportunity for the collector of early rock & roll to add one of the best etended play 45's ever released from the golden age of rock and roll and in high grade collector's condition.
