This is a strange one. Clemente Anselmo Arturo "Clem" Cattini, as well as being a drummer at the 2i's coffee bar in North London, was one of Johnny Kidd's Pirates, then became Joe Meek's in house drummer. He was on the short list for Led Zeppelin but that job went to John Bonham of course. Clem then helped to form the stunning Meeksville group "The Tornados", and also was used as a session man on hundreds of hits throughout the decade, including no less than 44 No. 1's.  He only ever released this one single under his own name.

The A side on this demo is nothing - a pleasant but throwaway tune but the B side will wake the dead in a graveyard! It is a frantic guitar, drum and dirty sax riot - quite unbelievable and it must be this side that has attracted the collectors and shot the price skywards.

The Record Collector price guide says Mint £50.00, but this is a DEMO and by rights should be worth 50% more, so £75.00. Because there is a sticker mark on the A side label, it will have to be discounted, but it is not staying listed for longer than ten days. If it has not sold by May 1st, 2016, it is staying with me! One chance only!

Pop, Easy Listening, Jazz, Reggae and Beat records are checked against Record Collector’s written or on-line Price Guide (rarerecordpriceguide.com), but Soul, Northern Soul and Motown records usually get a more accurate price from John Manship (raresoulman.co.uk). I use the categories Very Good, Excellent and occasionally Near Mint, with mid-points + or – if necessary. Detail information is obtained from the following highly recommended websites: 45cat.com, Discogs.com and Popsike.com, and the Guinness Book of Hit Singles.

COMPLAINTS AND REFUNDS

Ebay and all buyers please note: the majority of the item (s) for sale are between 40 and 60 years old, but are most definitely in the best possible condition for their age. I play all “A” and many “B” sides on a 1960’s Monarch deck, to make sure they sound OK. Most records will be supplied in an original Company sleeve, if at all possible, but if not a replica will be included.

I know before a disc leaves my house that there is little, if any, problem with it so that should avoid most complaints. If anyone should find a record is not as described, I may have missed a test or it is more than possible that the defect could have been with the disc since it was pressed.

Please don’t ask for fast delivery or complain about slow postage by me – being disabled, with an inoperable slipped disc touching on my spinal cord, (they offered me 70/30 odds against surviving the operation!) and so dependent on friends, I do the very best I can. The record you get should be worth the wait.

POSTAGE and PACKAGING for U.K BUYERS

DISCOUNTED POSTAGE RATES

1 – 5 singles (7”, 45 rpm records) are charged at the First Class Large Letter rate (20 cm x 20 cm x 1 cm, weight under half a kilo) according to the Post Office website, (£1.71). A small price of 29p is added for professional packaging, making the total postage just £2.00 for up to 5 discs.

Larger parcels of singles and all LONG PLAYING RECORDS (LP’s - 12”, 33 rpm records, 34 cm x 34 cm x 2 cm, and of reasonable weight), will be sent by the courier firm myHermes. As before, a small packaging price of 37p will be applied so one LP will cost £3.50, then 2 or 3 LPs £4.50 and 4 or 5 LP’s £6.50.

Postage and packaging rates for Europe start at £6.00, but please note that because of continued “lost” mail to countries in Eastern Europe, and also to Greece, Italy, Spain and Portugal, I will only use the Royal Mail’s International “Tracked and Signed” service, (rates starting from £13.00) for postage to these countries. Please enquire for actual cost BEFORE bidding and wait for an invoice at the end.
