Description
If you are a vinyl collector, then you know that these test presses are the holy grail of a record pressing. They are essentially a prototype record to make sure everything is correct and can go into mass production. The record label sends the band around 4 copies and they are to listen to them carefully. Once they are all approved, and only once they are approved, the record goes into production. As such this record has been listened to once and then put back into it's packaging. Second Nature is a vinyl collecting label, so they went a little further and have special test press labels with their logo made for the test presses. They also have a special embossing stamp as you can see in the picture, verifying that it's a real test press.
This record in particular is interesting as it is what sparked the recent productivity of Coalesce. After this release, the critically acclaimed Ox an Oxep followed. The second stage of the coalesce career can be traced back to this important release. It's also worth noting the lyrical matter Sean Ingram wrote on this 7" set the stage for what Ox systematically destroyed. It's an interesting before an after look when you listen to them back to back.
