Columbia SAX 2260 B/S BEETHOVEN "Symphony No.6 - Pastoral" OTTO KLEMPERER
This is one of a number of vinyl records from the 1950’s & 60’s listed this week which we no longer listen to. Little played, the records are still in very good condition, the covers sometimes less so.
Gradings are based on the “Record Collector Magazine's Guide” set out in the eBay Guides together with notes about condition added. Extracts from the Gramophone Magazine review written at the time of the record’s release are included, with the permission of the publishers, where these are available.
RECORD GRADING
EXCELLENT
Wonderful sound on this record, both sides of which have no damaging marks, just a few fine short hairlines, and there appear to be no spindle marks on either disc label
On side 1 there is some light surface noise, which is apparent at times, a little more so at the conclusion of the side. There are also some occasional feint ticks, one of which does repeat about for about half a dozen revolutions during the second movement.
Side 2 plays very much the same as side 1. There is a little light surface noise, an occasional tick or pop, but superb sound throughout
The record would almost certainly benefit from a clean as the surface sound is probably caused by dust as there are no damaging surface marks to cause this
COVER GRADING
EXCELLENT
This is an excellent heavy card cover in almost new condition. There is no damage; just a little creasing of two of the corners, one of which is lightly scuffed and a little light soiling where the laminate was not applied right up to the card on the front opening edge

Record In brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality Cover In perfect condition, as are extra items such as thelyric sheet, booklet or poster EXCELLENT Record Shows signs of having been played, but with very little lessening in sound quality Cover Slight wear and / or creasing to the cover or its contents VERY GOOD Record Obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch Cover Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects GOOD Record Played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, and there may be some distortion and mild scratches Cover Suffers from folding, scuffed edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.
