This long-deleted FOUR LP set collects together all the material the great bass player/composer recorded with his Jazz Workshop during his short-lived recording contract with Columbia Records. Originally this material appeared on just two LPs - the classic 'Mingus Ah Um' and 'Mingus Dynasty'. Later, some unissued material and some alternative takes appeared on reissue albums. On top of all this material, Mosiac managed to find yet more unissued takes. As usual Mingus was surrounded by great sidemen including: BOOKER ERVIN, JOHN HANDY, RICHARD WILLIAMS, DON ELLIS, SHAFI HADI, JIMMY KNEPPER and, of course, DANNY RICHMOND on drums.
