How many records did Mickey Mantle make? At least one, a duet with Teresa Brewer in 1956. I never knew he was a recording artist...
In the midst of a world championship and Triple Crown season in 1956, Mickey Mantle decided to team up with Teresa Brewer to record, “I Love Mickey,” on Coral records, with Mantle actually appearing with Brewer on the recording.
Here is a rare 78 rpm Coral label record 61700 release featuring Mickey Mantle and Teresa Brewer singing 'I LOVE MICKEY', with Teresa Brewer singing 'KEEP YOUR COTTON PICKIN' PADDIES OFFA MY HEART' on the flip side.
This record was issued in 78 rpm format during the late stages of a transition away from 78 rpm to the 'new' 33 and 45 rpm format. It sort of snuck in under the wire, before 78 rpm production ceased altogether. This recording is readily available in 45 rpm format, but not so for the 78s. How cool is that?
