Description

An original 1st press of DG on the UK Reaction label from 1967. Matrix A1/B1 - 1st cut. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original Ernest J Day cover which is fully laminated [front and back]. These fully laminated covers are the very 1st iteration and were only available at 1st release for a short period. Also included is an original plastic bag warning inner sleeve from the time. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex+) In super condition and has only seen light use. Under close inspection I could only make out a couple of light mars per side, and two superficial trails per side - nothing heavy/feelable that would remotely cause issue. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an EXCELLENT+ level of playback with one slight deviation. Intros and inbetweens are really nice and quiet and the audio comes across with perfect clarity. A blindingly good rendition and as good as any copy I've witnessed. Just powerful clear and clean audio. These 1st issue copies really do this title maximum justice. Even the quieter sections play very nice and clean with no issue. Interference is very very minor indeed, and infrquent. I'll do my usual catch-all..you will detect a couple of crackles in a couple of isolated moments per side [e.g. We're going Wrong]. There's two slight ticks in 'Outside Women Blues' - and that's your lot! But to all intents and purposes this is about as good as it's possible to go with GEARS.
Cover (Ex) In lovely condition and boy does the DG artwork just look great. And let's face it a lot better than the USA copies do with a massive green block plastered straight across the EYE on the rear! Remember, this is the more sought after true 1st issue with full lamination. Front and back are very nice and clean and both lie very nice and flat. I can make out a couple of tiny thumbnail creases each side and one crease in the bottom right and then, on the reverse, one in the bottom left [caused by a small bump to that corner]. Edge wear is very light indeed. The only place I can really see any is on the bottom edge where there's a one inch section of wear - otherwise this example fairs much much better than what usually surfaces. The spine is something else! Absolutely superb with all text perfectly legible. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity. What a specimen!
Inner (Ex-) Lightest ageing at extremities. No splits.
