Description

An original 1st mono press of GEARS on UK Reaction. Matrix A1/B1. Please note the publishing credit appears on the labels as 'Windfall' - this was removed soon after 1st issue. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in a TRUE 1st issue Mono cover which is fully laminated [front and back] - which was discontinued fairly shortly after 1st release.. Please note on the rear 'mono' appears top left and the side 2 track listing in the 'Eye' appears in white. This is all perfectly consistent with genuine 1st issue. We also have a company inner from the time too. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex+) In marvellous condition and has only seen light use. Under close inspection I can only make out a few very superficial marks per side. There is one small semi-feelable mark early in Sunshine - which does just sound briefly [see detail]. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT+ level of playback with one deviation. Intros and inbetweens are very nice and quiet and the audio comes across with excellent clarity. A super clean player and you will be treated to some of that legendary early mono ambiance. This is the sort of level a mega-fan of this title will be hoping to track down. Even into the fussier tracks a REALLY clean player e.g. Blue Condition & Going Wrong. Hardly any signs of background. Now, that is a highly respectable standard...period.  A couple of crackles right at the start of the intro to Ulysses and one minor solitary tick in 'Dance'. The only vaguely detrimental thing I spotted was 5-6 minor ticks in the opening seconds of Sunshine [caused by the mark mentioned above]. Would prefer it not to be there - but hey it really isn't bad at all. And is massively outweighed by the sheer performance on the remaining 99.5% of the record. I'd like to say I've sold a few at this level - but consistently clean players of this highly collectable title are hard to come by. Highly recommended for audio.
Cover (Ex) Super nice clean presentation. Very flat and nice and shiny with just a couple of thumbnails at the opening. easing. The rear is even better with no thumbnails at all - just a flat sheen. Minimal edge wear - unusual for this title. The spine is 100% intact [unusual]. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity. You'd really struggle to find one that equals this condition - let alone going better.
Inner (Vg+) A bit of ageing apparent. Bag present. No splits.
