"CREAM: WHEELS OF FIRE" - 45 / 7"
ATCO EP 4525 - stereoOffering one 1969 45 rpm promo 3 song EP by the very first Rock 'supergroup', Cream. Cream featured the talents of Eric Clapton, Jack Bruce, and Ginger Baker-virtuosos all! This record was released to radio stations only in an effort to promote Cream's last great album, "Wheels of Fire". "Wheels" was a two disc double album set, one disc of studio recorded originals, and one disc of live material from the Fillmore West. This rare item puts the seminal live version of "Crossroads"(Eric Clapton's great remake of the Robert Johnson classic) on the A side. (Yes, this IS the complete 4:13 minute 'album' version.) On the B side are two Cream originals recorded in the studio. "Crossroads" was in fact an FM hit that made it up to #28 on the Pop charts in the U.S.A. We've seen this item just once in our 35 year career, and it has been in our personal collection until now.

Picture sleeve condition is quite nice, but not perfect. Sleeve is super clean on both sides, which have the exact same image. Front side of sleeve shows a small amount of creasing at top center edge. Creased area is about 2 inches wide and about 1/4 inch high-not too unusual for old picture sleeves. Back side of sleeve does not have this creasing. Both sides show a soft crease in the corner. (As viewed from the front, this crease is at top left.) We're sorry, but these minor creases do not show up on our scan. You will also note that there is a tiny black mark on the sleeve on both sides above the ATCO logo. This is a tiny "R", which is a copyright mark. Sleeve has no stains, tears, writing, etc. Overall grade is Excellent Plus.
Disc (white promo label with red print) shows nice gloss and a good-looking surface. A side has a few tiny light marks/scuffs. B side has 2 short nicks on the dead wax on the outside of the disc. These are not on the playing surface and do not affect play. Play test of the vinyl shows a little groove wear, producing a bit of crackling which is more evident on the quieter studio tracks and barely noticeable on the raucous, "Crossroads", which sounds great. Vinyl grade is Excellent Plus.
