Record may be opened and taken out of sleeve for 2 reasons , to check the color of the vinyl , and for safe shipping -- to avoid "seam splits" in shipping. This is a new unplayed item.  This tends to run with certain record labels , having the records "loose"  and sliding around in the cover . I make my best judgement when shipping them out if the record needs removed from the cover to prevent a seam split
