Original UK pressing on the PHILIPS label (6006 337), from 1973. Desirable and elusive recording by the cult jazz musician and composer. A mythical single for many UK funk and Library collectors. Easily, Dankworth's funkiest moment on wax. The BITTER LEMONS side is a classic showcase of psychedelic big-band funk with that quintessential English sound. B-boy drum breaks / groovy horn section / chicken scratch guitars / wah wah and funky basslines by legendary UK jazz players including the infectious keyboard vamps of John Taylor (of Pause And Think Again piano trio Lp fame) / Kenny Wheeler / Don Rendell / Mike Gibbs et al. Great for DJs and once sampled by Yorkshire's Fila Brazillia for their cut 'n' paste / breakbeat anthem, Big Saddle. BITTER LEMONS was originially released on 7-inch format only and was later comped on Dankworth's Let's Slip Away - Film and TV 1960 to 1973 CD. The TOMORROW'S WORLD side is also superb. An alternative take on the modern jazz theme created for the futuristic science and technology BBC television show. Lovely flute solos. Seldom comes up for sale. Very rare 45!!!

Our record grading: SEALED / M- / VG++ / VG+ / VG 

Vinyl is in shiny, strong VG++ condition (closer to M-) with some light hairlines. Booming production sound. Record housed in generic white card sleeve / Record housed in original Philips label custom sleeve. Archive sticker and number in pen (front and back). Sleeve has light wear and creasing. Very rare 45!!!
