DIRIGIERT VON LEONARD BERNSTEIN ORIGINAL ALBUM, 180 Gramm Vinyl “Bernstein Plays Brubeck Plays Bernstein” ist ein 1961er Album des Dave Brubeck Quartets. Sein Titel verweist auf die Tatsache, dass es sowohl eine Brubeck Komposition (auch wenn der “Brubeck” hier Howard Brubeck ist, Dave Brubecks Bruder), dirigiert von Leonard Bernstein, sowie Bernstein Kompositionen vom Dave Brubeck Quartet gespielt enthält. Der Titel ist zudem eine Reminessenz an Dave Brubecks 1956 Solodebüt Album, Brubeck Plays Brubeck. Die komplette erste Seite des Albums enthält die Komposition “Dialogues for Jazz Combo and Orchestra”, komponiert von Howard Brubeck und von der New York Philharmonie und dem Dave Brubeck Quartet unter der Leitung von Leonard Bernstein eingespielt. Die zweite Seite enthält Arrangements von fünf Songs aus den Berstein Musicals West Side Story und Wonderful Town.
