Description
For sale is a vinyl record by Dave Brubeck titled Bernstein Plays Bruback Plays Bernstein, originally released in 1960 by Columbia Records, featuring the Dave Brubeck Quartet along with The New York Philharmonic conducted by Leonard Bernstein. In the dead wax between the labels and the last tracks are the matrix numbers 1-C/1-E, indicating that an early stamper was used to make this first edition. On this red and black Columbia label are six CBS logos, three on each side of the label's outer center rim, resembling "Eyes" and named "6-Eye" Columbia labels by collectors. These pressings are sought after for their superior sound quality due to their state-of-the-art engineering production during the whole process of mastering the record through pressing of the album. I bought this record used and immediately put it into an archival inner sleeve. Doing this preserves the integrity of the vinyl and any original insert(s) or inner sleeve(s) that may have come with the release. There is no original inner sleeve with this listing. The cover is graded as Very Good because of corner blunts, ring wear, edge rubs and a 6 inch seam split on the lower right hand corner. The spine has color loss at the corners from these blunts. The Vinyl is visually graded as Near Mint with shiny surfaces without surface scratches, smudges or sleeve marks. I'm play grading this as Near Mint Minus because of ocassional ultra low level surface noise, more noticeable during the quiet sections of playback, but not over-powering the music. This is still one of the best copies of this very rare album that I have ever seen or heard, and you would be hard pressed to find another one in this condition, especially a 6-Eye first pressing.
