Description
Up for a bid is a Near Mint copy of Dave Matthew's "Before These Crowded Streets". I bought this record new from Tower Records, it still has the sticker on its glorious shrink wrap. I have never played it all the way through, maybe just a few songs, on my Linn Sondek with Ittok and vandenhul cartridge. It has sat in my record cabinet for all these years. This record is as new as you can get, without actually being new. Please wait for invoice at end of auction before payment. It will be very carefully wrapped. Please email any questions.
We use the Goldmine standard of grading. Most are graded visually. Sound grading will be noted, if done.
Goldmine grading standards:
MINT (M)
Aboslutely perfect in every way--certainly never played, possibly even still sealed.
NEAR MINT (NM or M-)
A nearly perfect record. Many dealers won't give a grade higher than this, implying (perhaps correctly) that no record is ever truly perfect.
VERY GOOD PLUS (VG+)
Generally worth 50 percent of the Near Mint value. A Very Good Plus record will show some signs that it was played and otherwise handled by a previous owner who took good care of it.
Record surfaces may show some slight signs of wear and may have slight scuffs or very slight scratches that don't affect one's listening experience. Slight warps that do not affect the sound are OK.
The label may have some ring wear or discoloration.
Picture sleeves and LP inner sleeves will have some slight ring wear, lightly turned up corners, or a slight seam split. In general, if not for a couple minor things wrong with it, this would be Near Mint.
VERY GOOD (VG)
Many of the defects found in a VG+ record will be more pronounced in a VG disc.
Surface noise will be evident,labels may be marred by writing, or have tape and stickers.
GOOd(G), GOOD PLUS (G+)
A record in Good or Good Plus can be put onto a turntable and will play through with out skipping, but it will have significant surface noise and scratches, also visible groove wear. A jacket or sleeve will have seam splits at bottom or spine. Tape, writing , ring wear or other defects will start to overwhelm the object.
POOR (P), FAIR (F)
The record is badly warped, cracked, and won't play through with skipping or repeating.
