Description
DAVID BOWIE, HUNKY DORY, UK RCA VICTOR LP, RARE 1971 1st PRESS LAMINATED SLEEVE
David Bowie – Hunky DoryDavid Bowie (born David Robert Hayward-Jones, 8 January 1947) is an English musician, actor, record producer and arranger. Active in five decades of popular music and frequently reinventing his music and image, he is widely regarded as an innovator, particularly for his work in the 1970s. He has been cited as an influence by many musicians and is known for his distinctive voice and the intellectual depth of his work.
This is the very rare first pressing with the front laminated sleeve and the glossy labels. It is not the best copy you will ever see but definitely not wrecked! The record has been graded as good as it does have a few marks and plays with some clicks, especially at the start of side one. But there is nothing overpowering and it doesn ’t spoil your enjoyment of the music. As this version of the album is very rare I have decided to auction it as a ‘collection filler’ for someone. Do not expect it to look great or play perfectly!!!
Side One: Changes; 2. Oh! You Pretty Things / Eight Line Poem; Life On Mars; Kooks; Quicksand.
Side Two: Fill Your Heart / Andy Warhol; Song For Bob Dylan; Queen Bitch; The Bewlay Brothers.
The album is on RCA Victor Records, SF 8244. Matrix side one: APRS 5947 3T (stamped) and Bobil AIT (written). Matrix side two: APRS 5948 3T (stamped) and Rasputen AIM (written).
Released in 1971. UK pressing. Stereo.
See photos below for more info.
Condition: (as Record Collector’s grading system)
Vinyl side 1: good (has a few noticeable marks with some causing light clicks, The first half of “Changes” has a few light clicks and there is the odd light click thereafter. There is nothing the spoils your enjoyment of the music and it still sounds great. Doesn ’t stick, skip or jump).
Vinyl side 2: good (has a few noticeable marks with some causing clicks, mainly on “Fill Your Heart” where there is a scratch which causes clicks throughout most of the track. “Song For Bob Dylan” has the odd very light click, thereafter it plays fine. There is nothing the spoils your enjoyment of the music and it still sounds great. Doesn ’t stick, skip or jump).
Cover (front laminated): good (corner wear, 6cm split on top edge, some creasing).
The original insert that came with this record is missing!!!
I have tried to give my honest opinion as to the condition. I will give a complete refund to the buyer if they are not happy with the record.
Any questions, don’t hesitate to ask.

RECORD COLLECTOR GRADING SYSTEM:
MINT: I very rarely use the mint grade. Only records that are still sealed or records that even under the strongest of lights are completely unmarked. Also covers that are unmarked/uncreased in any way and still look brand new.
EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is no lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.
VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.
FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.
POOR: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.
BAD: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.
