Description
Up for auction is a copy of The Man Who Sold The World by David Bowie, released in 1971 on Mercury, cat no 6338 041. This is a first UK pressing in the “dress” cover, and is guaranteed an original press, not a bootleg, reissue or counterfeit. That’s the good news, however….
Condition: clearly seen better days. There are many small marks on both sides, and a larger scuff on side two, but everything plays through with “rustle” throughout; I heard no jumps/sticks. Side two label has some wear around centre hole; this is the version with correct “Tony Visconti” credit. Cover has considerable wear & tear, bearing out its “fragile” reputation, and also has much (internally repaired – so invisible) seam splitting, water damage, a few small tears on the rear etc. Best to check the photos. Probably no better than G all round. Certainly not the best condition copy you’ll find. But possibly the cheapest.
My grades: I use a 10-point scale: M-; EX; VG+; VG; VG-; G+; G; G-; F (fair); P (poor). I never use mint as a grade for used records. I am a long-time (25+ years!) record collector, and play-grade where possible. I don’t use stock photos: the item pictured here is the item for sale. My feedback from buyers indicates I normally undergrade in listings. Even so, if you have any problems, I'll give you your money back (less shipping costs), no questions asked. Buy with confidence!
