Description
Welcome! I purchased this album when it was released in 1976. When CD players came out I purchased the CD and I hadn't listened to the record since then. Today I cleaned it and I listened to it through headphones so I could get a good idea of its condition. There are no skips in the record. There is some very slight crackling on side A with the most noticeable being 15 seconds of intermittent crackling from a 3/8 inch scratch at the end of the song "word on a wing" Overall the album is in VG condition Picture #9 shows the 3/8 inch scratch at the end of the song titled "word on a wing" side A. With the majority of the scratch being in the dead-wax area. Some intermittent crackling is audible for the last 15 seconds of the song. Pictures #10 and # 11 show tears in the album cover and sleeve.
The album comes a from non smoking household.
BACKGROUND:
After the success of the dance hits "Fame" and "Young Americans" (both off 1975's Young Americans), Bowie seemed to step back, ponder the future of rock, and then turn up the guitars and the art-rock sensibilities and make a completely engaging and evocative album. From the epic title track (introducing the Thin White Duke character and building into an incendiary rocker) to the irresistible "Golden Years" (another dance hit) and on to the physically wrenching and funk-drenched "Stay," the soul of David Bowie is pretty much meshed into every track. The playful "TVC15" takes the listener on a bumpy ride into unholy tech-love, and the gorgeous "Wild is the Wind" and "Word on a Wing" have Bowie stepping out of his rocker persona and into sensual crooner mode.
