PRESSED WITH THE FIRST ISSUE RCA SMOOTH, GLOSSY ORANGE LABELS WHICH CARRY THE FIRST "Titanic Music / Chrysalis Music" CREDIT (changed just a few months later to "MainMan / Chrysalis")

THE RECORD IS HOUSED IN THE ORIGINAL MATT SLEEVE, "Printed in England by Robert Stace" - NO 'MainMan' LOGO ON THE BACK (which is present on all copies printed after December 1972)
COMPLETE WITH THE ORIGINAL LYRIC INNER SLEEVE (again, the first issue with "Titanic Music Limited / Chrysalis Limited" credits)
Borrowing heavily from Marc Bolan's glam rock and the future shock of A Clockwork Orange, David Bowie reached back to the heavy rock of The Man Who Sold the World for The Rise & Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars.
Constructed as a loose concept album about an androgynous alien rock star named Ziggy Stardust, the story falls apart quickly, yet Bowie's fractured, paranoid lyrics are evocative of a decadent, decaying future, and the music echoes an apocalyptic, nuclear dread.
Fleshing out the off-kilter metallic mix with fatter guitars, genuine pop songs, string sections, keyboards, and a cinematic flourish, Ziggy Stardust is a glitzy array of riffs, hooks, melodrama, and style and the logical culmination of glam.
Mick Ronson plays with a maverick flair that invigorates rockers like "Suffragette City," "Moonage Daydream," and "Hang Onto Yourself," while "Lady Stardust," "Five Years," and "Rock 'n' Roll Suicide" have a grand sense of staged drama previously unheard of in rock & roll. And that self-conscious sense of theatre is part of the reason why Ziggy Stardust sounds so foreign.
Bowie succeeds not in spite of his pretensions but because of them, and Ziggy Stardust -- familiar in structure, but alien in performance -- is the first time his vision and execution met in such a grand, sweeping fashion

LABELS: NEAR MINT
Apart from a tiny touch of paper loss by the spindle hole on Side One (probably present from manufacture) both labels are clean, fresh and unmarked
VINYL Visual: NEAR MINT
Both vinyl surfaces shine like new, unmarked under normal light they display just wispy hairlines under bright light
VINYL Audio: EXCELLENT++
Sensational audio delivery throughout with a clean, sharp and warm sound and my play-check at loud volume found little to fault - just the occasional (non-continuous) light background tick - but these really are incredibly minor and non-intrusive - the whole set is exceptionally clean and plays beautifully
SLEEVE: EXCELLENT+
The sleeve is clean and unmarked with very little edge or spine wear - all spine text is clear and bold.
There is a slight touch of the record impression to the front and back (nothing major).
Overall, a fine example of this easily worn, untreated cover
