DAVID JOHN AND THE MOOD
"BRING IT TO JEROME" b/w "I LOVE TO SEE YOU STRUT"

7" on the original PARLOPHONE RECORDS R 5255 from 1965

Tremendous punky garage-beat from a cool early 60's band. First note about them as I remember, was that they were confused with David Bowie's early singles, and some thought they may have been him in another guise - however any hearing of this group makes it clear that there's little relation to his vocal style at all, the only common factor being the name 'David' in the title! Oh well, that doesn't change anything about this single, as it's a great freaky R'n B outing that stands by itself without need for any other member's fame or infamy.
The FLIP side is the one in my opinion, it's an excellent chunky recording by Joe Meek that makes you wonder how the heck he managed to get so much sound out of a two-floor flat, wherein the singer apparently had only 'bathroom' acoustics for any effect, and most recordings would have been one-take with no extra instruments on separated channels. Astounding!
The singer here really punches this out too, fantastic raunchy and loaded with cool!!

The vinyl is EX / VG++, with top shine and only very few light surface marks visible.
The lables are clean and bright VG++z
The Parlophone company cover is included.
