Description

HERE IS a great, copacetic, vital, not to mention highly entertaining record by JELLY ROLL MORTON AND HIS RED HOT PEPPERS: 


"SIDEWALK BLUES" (take -3) and "DEAD MAN BLUES" (take -2) 


This is from Jelly's first week of recording for Victor, in September, 1926, during which he set the standard of New Orleans Jazz for all time.  The personnel is a Who's Who of the style:  


JELLY ROLL MORTON, p, speech /GEORGE MITCHELL, (cornet) / KID ORY (trombone) / OMER SIMEON (clarinet) / JOHNNY ST. CYR (banjo) / JOHN LINDSAY (bass) / ANDREW HILLAIRE (drums).   


This Original 1926 "Scroll" Victor 20252 is in highly serviceable V++ condition.  Plays cleanly, some scratches, a little distortion here and there, but mostly a very sound copy indeed.
