DECCA SXL 2005 WBGv Ed1 - Blue Back Cover - Dvorak New World Symphony VPO KUBELIK

This is one of a number of vinyl records from the 1950’s & 60’s listed this week which we no longer listen to. Little played, the records are still in very good condition, the covers sometimes less so.

Gradings are based on the “Record Collector Magazine's Guide” set out in the eBay Guides together with notes about condition added. Extracts from the Gramophone Magazine review written at the time of the record’s release are included, with the permission of the publishers, where these are available.

RECORD GRADING

VERY GOOD to EXCELLENT

Although there are some surface marks on both sides of this record they are mainly sleeve rubbings and light hairlines.

On side 1 there is one very visible mark spanning the break between movements but it only produce a couple of clicks shortly after the break; nothing during the break, and only a couple of further light pops during the very quiet opening passage of the second movement

Overall, side 1 plays very nicely with just a little surface noise and occasional light ticks, some of which do repeat for perhaps 2 or 3 revolutions. There are 3 louder pops about 4 minutes before the end of the side which occur again about 2 minutes later

Side 2 has a few more marks than side 1, mainly sleeve rubbings, but plays excellently with minimal surface sound. There is a run of 4 pops about 4 minutes before the end of the side.

COVER GRADING

EXCELLENT

An excellent Blue Back cover. Structurally sound, there is no damage; the corners are a little scuffed and the bottom edge is worn

The blue FFSS inner sleeve is also excellent; unmarked, undamaged and only very lightly creased
