DECCA SXL 2064 / 65 WBg 2 LP set SMETANA Ma Vlast Kubelik 1959 STEREO UK
Smetana Ma Vlast ( My Country) cycle of symphonic poems
with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by RAFAEL KUBELIK WIDE BAND BLUE DECCA LABEL WITH SILVER LETTERING AND DEEP GROOVE
SXL 2065 has the “Original recording by the Decca Record co.ltd” text complete with original FFSS Decca company ( first pressing )

SIDE 3 MATRIX XAL 4079 - 7L
SXL 2064 has “Made in England by the Decca Record Co.ltd” which makes it a slightly later recording (second pressing)

I am assured by the previous owner that the 2 LPs were bought new at the same time -
so I can only guess they were purchased at a time which was a crossover between Decca Changing their label details slightly

CONDITION
SXL 2064 / SXL 2065 FRONT SLEEVES laminated both EXCELLENT - REAR SLEEVES -JUST UNDER EXCELLENT
very faint signs of wear at corners . Both back sleeves do show some signs of age light spots and slight tanning ( perhaps not surprising given the 50 year plus vintage) ( see Photos)
VINYL Side One
Visually and audibly JUST UNDER EXCELLENT - a few light surface marks most likely caused by inner sleeve - AUDIBLY - a few light crackles at the start of band 1 side 1 2 faint pops for 1 revolution near the start. Band 2 has 3 pops for 1 revolution midway ( 1 pop is slightly louder) followed by 1 light pop for 4 revolutions a little further on , together with the occasional faint soft ‘tics)
Side Four Visually and audibly EXCELLENT - just occasional faint soft ‘tics’ 1 light pop for 1 revolution midway

Visually and audibly EXCELLENT - just occasional faint soft ‘tics’
1 light pop for 1 revolution midway band 1 and 1 very light pop for 1 revolution towards the end of band 2
Side Three
Visually and audibly EXCELLENT - just occasional faint soft ‘tics’
a few very mild crackles at start of band
Smetana’s symphonic masterpiece started in 1874 and completed in 1879 despite becoming stone deaf during its composition. A stirring and glorious recording from Rafael Kubelik with Decca’s usual superb sound quality - A rare and well regarded recording in a striking sleeve design .
