Insanely rare and legendary private-press "real people" holy grail.”Unitarian church project tuns in to gargae rock with amazingly bizarre vocal performances. Paul Major said on an old list that the vocals are up there with the Kaplan Brothers, but that might be understating the case. The chorus, tone-deaf, nasal, and everpresent, is equally bloodcurdling, and perfectly introduces the LP with an opening salvo of "WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE, WHERE ARE THEY GOING?", while the music goes as magically awry as the vocals, frequently souding like a Christian P-Funk with wah-wah, tremolo, and naughty snaking basslines. The album was recorded in one of the artists' living rooms, giving it a great condensed sound, and whoever was playing the drums (on what sounds like a pair of buckets) thankfully sat right next to the recorder.” .
